Petition for Better NHS Treatment

To add your name to our petition, please read the statement and fill in the form below. We will not make your name or details publicly available online.

We, the undersigned, disagree with the decision by the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE), on 21st August 2006, to deny NHS patients, with advanced bowel cancer, the option to be treated with Avastin (bevacizumab) or Erbitux (cetuximab), on the basis of cost-effectiveness.

We believe that NICE should reconsider its decision, taking into consideration the huge value for patients, and their close family and friends, which is gained from additional months of quality life offered by these treatments, or the reduction of patients' tumour sizes to enable further treatment options which could potentially offer the chance of remission.

We support Beating Bowel Cancer in their mission to ensure open access to the newest and best treatments for bowel cancer patients, regardless of where someone lives or their ability to pay.
